Carol Vernallis' Theory
4 Key Concepts
- Narrative
- Editing
- Camera/Movement/Framing
- Diegesis
Narrative
- Doesn't need beginning, middle and end
- Partial, disjoined
Editing
- Brought to foreground
- Jump cuts, breaks the 30 degree rule
Camera/Movement/Framing
- Establishing shots frequently used throughout
- Medium and close up shots used throughout to establish the artist
- Master shot, establishing shot that keeps everyone in view
Diegesis
- Diegesis will be revelled quite slowly
- Repetition is key so you will be able to pick out the important shots

Audience and Audience
Why and how do you consume music?
I normally listen to music throughout the day while I'm working in and out of class as it helps me concentrate and at night when I'm doing things round the house or tidying my room. I have different playlists for different moods and different times of the day. I listen to music at school, at home, walking to and from somewhere and when I go to parties. I normally listen to music through my earphones but will always tell people new songs I like and they tell me theirs. When me and my mates go out we will always bring a speaker so we can sit somewhere and listen to music. I will listen to music from my phone as I can et any song I want. I will also listen to CDs when I am in the car or the radio.
Uses and gratifications theory
Examples:
Personal identification - when I used to get angry with my parents I used to blast songs that would express how I feel and that would make me feel better.
Information - sometimes you learn something from a song, Oliver Cromwell by Monty Python taught me some history.
Entertainment - Madonna and her dance moves.
Social interaction - songs my friends and I would always request and dace to when we went out.
Escapism -
Create mood (romance, upbeat) -
Cheer you up -
Get you in the mood to go out -
Add atmosphere to a gathering -
Help you sleep -
Distraction -
Companionship (driving, travelling) -
music video influences
These are our music video influences. We picked these because of the places they were set and the editing that is used.
eminem website evaluation
This is the official Eminem website, in this video I talk about the website and how I would like this to like to my website as a performer. the website I will create will show most of the things that this website has but on this website the home page shows to much of the shop this is something I will try to avoid on the home page and instead show more of the music and the performer.
