performance, concept and narrative

narrative music video:

this video is a narrative music video as the story line used follows the lyrics of the song it also shows a story throughout the video. this video demonstrates narrative as it uses all of the lyrics to show a story as the key story line points in the video are "when I was three I met a young lady" at this point there is a shot of two three year olds in the "shy city" which is mentioned through out the song and music video but this is part of the story line. another example of a narrative music video is Justin Bieber's, as long as you love me. this shows narrative through the video but also audio before the music starts as it is showing Justin and the father of the girl talking and it sets the music video up more so it has got more tension. this is done in a lot of music videos to get across the story line.

performance music video:

this music video shows performance by using all artists who sing or produce the song to be in the video. this video demonstrates lip syncing with the song as all of the artists do. this music video is seen as a performance video as it is all lip-synced with the song and it shows all of the artists. this could be confused with a narrative music video but none of the lyrics link with the video.

production diary

Monday 26th/ Tuesday 27th
Over these two days we discussed the music video that we wanted to replicate. By finding a good song it would mean we had better skills to prepare ourselves for the main course work ahead.
Finally we decided on the song Four, Five Seconds by Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney. we thought this would be a good choice as it meant all three of us could have an attempt at acting and find out what part of the production that we all enjoy most.

Wednesday 28th
We started to produce the shot plan and focused on when are where we could film them. This lead to us producing the filming timetable and we booked out the gym for Friday morning to make sure it would be available.

Thursday 29th
Pip completed the shot plan and we all made sure we were prepared with all of out props for the filming on Friday morning.

Friday 30th
Today was spent putting the clips together and seeing what worked and what didn't. The editing of the prelim is a very long process and therefore meant we spent Monday the 3rd and Tuesday the 4th completing everything that needed to be adjusted.

Wednesday 5th
Finally the editing was complete and we could export it. We moved onto the paperwork of the project and made sure we had everything complete to guarantee the most marks possible.

Thursday 6Th
This was the due date of all of our research and prelim tasks so we spent it completing our evaluation and completing our checklists.
